Anime PUNCH

Promotional art for the upcoming ‘Anime Punch’ convention in Central Ohio. An opening for the artist’s alley presented itself at the last minute, so though on short notice, I’ll actually be able to attend this year! Convention info is here: [link]

This is art of the convention mascots, the ‘karate girls.’ Normally I wouldn’t take time out for miscellaneous art like this, but having just completed a huge pile of corrections on Volumes 1 and 2, I needed some decompressing. Plus, I was harboring a bit of curiosity. I’ve been doing virtually nothing but Dreamkeepers art for the last few years, so I wanted to see if I still had the ol’ chameleon ability from my freelance days, when it was imperative for me to imitate any style.

Here, I was obviously going for straight-up anime stylization: I feel like it came out looking fairly accurate. Not 100% convincingly authentic, but I’d mark it up as a good try anyways. And it was fun to stretch the versatility and indulge in a change of pace.

…But, just between you and me, I don’t think those girls know karate.
