Artist's Comments

A commission for Darius of his striking blue-striped dragon character. This one was loads of fun, being able to play with the landscape in the rain, with dawn light coming over the horizon. Hmm... Makes me want to climb a mountain, though. Probably not a good idea. Unless they make shorter, friendlier mountains for the coordination impaired.

Wow, I don't know where to begin. I'm going to try and go "easy" though, because I don't think I really have a right to go further seeing as how it'd take possibly decades for me to produce something of this quality.

The good parts: your knowledge of light, and shadow, the way you have the darkness, and the sunset, the utterly delicious and amazing storm clouds and rain... the texture of the rocks, and design of the dragon. The overall extraordinary level of detail in the piece is absolutely stunning. I think I should explain that I deduct a few points for impact -- because dragons have been done in the past, but I really couldn't drop that much simply because it is done in such a unique way as to make this your own.

The only thing that really bothered me, at all, was that the creature's waist seemed a little unnaturally thin, for the proportions of the rest of its body. Even still, it remains harmonious with the rest... so it took quite a long time staring at the picture to notice it.

I feel like I'd be slobbering on you if I kept going on about all the things in this image I liked, when I honestly can't find more than a few things to at best, "nit-pick". So, instead I'll tell you my single most favorite thing, and then second most favorite about this image;
The Rain. It looks so... alive, and real it's amazing.
Second, are your light effects... they're truly what bring the image to life, and make it seem like more of a photograph from some alternate reality, than a digital image.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful work!

“But around 1700, there was a 2.2°C rise in just 36 years.”

Unless there is a geological reason for that warming, it is pretty much certain that a 36 year trend would have had to have been global in nature. Energy has a way of being redistributed.

Hahaha I have to question your statement there Dave XD

You can't call yourself coordination impaired if you're gonna start showing epic artz like these. It feels ironic heee
