Summer seemed to be the right season for posting this commission up - it was done for Haloth, the winged Clydesdale.
There’s not a lot going on in this illustration, but I really like it that way. The sky seems to open up more, and help capture the idea of free, unfettered soaring.
This is also, of all commissions, one I would love to see take place inexplicably in real life. I just want to see the look on people’s faces when out of nowhere a winged, totally ripped Clydesdale hurtles by. Preferably he would bellow a bewildering word or phrase just as he’s whooshing past the stunned grocery shopper, to maximize the effect.
Then the person would totter home and realize, horribly, that they can’t tell anyone about what they just saw. And that is the point where I appear outside their window laughing maniacally.
