Another of Ye Olde commissions: This illustration features Mary Minchís character Mary Mouse, from her ongoing comic Mice. Another vague background, but Iím finding that some of these pictures I really like the softer, less defined backdrops. Not that Iíll ever lose my taste for ludicrously detailed landscapes, but itís nice to have a few different tools in the box, and this setting in particular gives me a really soothing vibe. If it werenít for the business end of that sword, Iíd feel comfy strolling on into the scene. But youíve gotta watch out for the swords - especially when wielded by an innocent wide-eyed girl, because they know full well how harmless they look, and this erases any potential guilt they would otherwise feel after wreaking havoc. Itís a good equation to keep in mind; Cute innocent girl = Guiltless painful havoc.
