Mokoi Concept Art by Dreamkeepers Mokoi Concept Art by Dreamkeepers
Here's some concept art for a demon creature that will be introduced - at least partially - in Volume 2 of the Dreamkeepers series. This guy was a lot of fun to design! Good around the Halloween season, too. His purpose is pretty sweet- don't want to give away too much stuff from the story, but it's neat. I will say this - he's an assassin for the demon army, and once he chooses a target, that is all he sees until that target is dead.

Mace currently believes that the Sandman is scarier then the Mokoi.... oh I can't wait to see the look on his face when sees just how mistaken he was!

One must wonder what would happen if the moth eye of the Mokoi was destroyed. Would the entire creature be disabled or killed, or would a new moth eye be somehow generated?

The Mokoi kinda looks like a insectoid version of the slenderman

Did you get inspiration for the Mokoi from the necromorphs in Dead Space? Because to me, that's what it looks like, Or did you draw the concept from a certain culture's mythology? It's speculation, yeah, but i do know that the Indigo twins characters are based from the Mar'allang sisters in Aboriginal mythology from Australia.

The Mokoi was probably inspired a bit by HR Geiger- I haven't heard of Dead Space. However, I might have seen it somewhere in passing and been influenced anyways. There are a lot of cool creature designs out there. :)

I like it! It's got a nice futuristic-Slender Man feel to it.

The bottom right face is when the moth thing retracts it's wings and merges with it's host body... More will get explained sometime in future books. :D

I know it likely isn't like this, but I can picture him running into walls, since 'once he chooses a target, that is all he sees until that target is dead'. Taking words too literally, I know, but it's still funny.

I love his wicked design though. The blank face, while not as scary as say, a xenomorph/internecivus raptus or a predator/yautja, is still pretty freaky and could really get to be disconcerting since you can't tell what it's thinking or feeling.

But I have to ask, what's up with the bug/eye thing? Is that how it sees its target?

The moth / eye thing is what first locates and 'marks' who his target is going to be. Then when it returns to him and attaches to his face, it's time to go hunting. E )

Thanks for um... liking it, I guess! Yes. Thanks for liking. Hopefully, you'll like it even MORE when it's runnin' around in the comic, like, doing things with the stuff. All the stuff.

Wow...
Single target lock on? That's unnerving! Does he work with the underlord?

I don't want to give away any story stuff... But later on in the series, you'll see who controls the Mokoi and everything. It's pretty neat!

I can't wait. I also like the way the Mokoi have goggles and scarves obscuring thier faces, I always prefered soldiers and cops to look more like minions then actual people- it keeps the reader's mind on the protagonists.
