Yep - his earliest iteration. We decided to make him red for the book, since that would stand out better in the forest.

Cool, Wip can control the earth.

Although I do have a question, where's their halos?

Actually this concept art is rather old, so the powers aren't necessarily accurate- it might even predate our idea for halos, now that I think about it.

Cool battle scene. By the way, mind I'd like to know what their individual powers are, since I haven't read the book, and It's kinda hard for me to get it from where I am.

how do you do those backgrounds? Any tips for graphic novels???

Sure! I guess my general advice on backgrounds would be, to think about what they're supposed to do in the story... The mood is really important. Comics don't have a soundtrack, or moving cinematography to convey emotion, so the look and feel of the backgrounds - especially the lighting - is very significant.

I have a small tutorial up on the dreamkeepers website, in 'Behind the Scenes - Chapter 5', on how I put a typical page together from start to finish. It's not highly in depth, but I hope it's somewhat useful! 8 ) -[link]
