This commission placed a fiery lava dragon into the Starfall mountains of the graphic novel series. Any excuse to work with water and waterfalls makes a good day for me. I tried to increase the 'wetness' and transparency of the liquid in the foreground pool by revealing the stony texture of the pebbles beneath - partly painted in from a photograph I took of a similar aquatic view at Cedar Falls one isolated spring morning. I'm still not satisfied with my handling of water - I want to look at a picture and be able to smell it, to get thirsty just from seeing how lifelike the liquid is. Not there yet, but getting closer I think. Oh, yeah, and the dragon was a blast to draw! I haven't drawn a big scaly dragon in forever, I had forgotten how fun it is. This dragon’s name is Houki-Boshi, and the rider is Meian. These characters and their design belongs to Cornelius van Richten and his art who can be found at: [link]

Watch the right eye twitch...)  *jaw drops open* wow that's just... breath taking.. The detail and all of the scenery and the characters are just... amazing.
-- I hold my ground, and don't make a sound. I'm silence and stealth, a wolf and proud. I run with the wind, and howl at the moon. I sing with the stars, a slow haunting tune. They say the eyes of a wolf transfix you. It's true.  OH MY! This looks breathtaking!
 Also the nice atmosphere of this picture makes me a bit relaxed.-- I am Pokemon #490 Manaphy in DA's Pokemon Crew You called?  AMAZING!!! This is at least your third dragon I've seen (one being my own commission) but this was SWEET!

Critiques
It's very clear you spent some time on this. All of the attention to detail (I love the smoke effect rising from the water, really helps give the impression the dragon is putting off lots of heat) is just spectacular.
Also, the way you made the water has a very 'tangible' sense to it. It was rendered nearly perfectly. The rocks and dragon's claws you can see at the bottom add the finishing touches.
Lastly, the perspective and coloring. The perspective makes the picture even more interesting, and was done very well. And the coloring (as per usual) adds the finishing touch.
