Artist's Comments

This commission for QuickXyk follows in sequence from the Coyote Cantina. The rascal coyote from the tavern was evidently fingered in the act, and 'Jr.', the gambling fox, is sending some of the family muscle out to teach the rogue a lesson. But when it comes to lessons, this coyote is the class troublemaker. It was fun imagining how the story could expand from here as I colored - I can't see things getting calmer. The wardrobe on the coyote, although a hybrid outfit like most others, was inspired a bit by 'Yojimbo' of the old Kurosawa film - one of the few black and white movies I've ever sat through and thoroughly enjoyed. Although the action came out fine, I wound up being very pleased with the atmosphere in this one - it's supposed to be just as a storm front is coming in, with the sunlight lingering against a dark sky, and a few stray drops dotting the dusty surfaces. This is one of the few times where, after adding a few details, I've suddenly felt like I could smell the setting. I want to try for more of that down the road - it was experiments in commissions like this that I think is really going to help the art in Volume 3 plateau beyond the previous Dreamkeeper books. This I feel is by far one of the most incredible work you ever created. From just the smallest detail like the dripping rain on the characters to the action going on in the characters themselves. The rain especially makes me feel like I am in it watching this battle. I can even feel the cold from the rain as I look at it. The lighting is perfect as well. I also enjoy all the clothes you did for the characters with all the details. Also their expressions are awesome. Very origionally done with this one and keep up the great artworks!

Wow, I'm not sure I can do this picture justice with a comment, but I'll try. ;) First of all - wow! Once again, you've managed to make a drawing that seems so lively and in-motion that it almost leaps out of the screen. The details are amazing - everything fits and looks like it was done with an increadible attention. Exemples are the clothes, wich look fitting in style and, aside from excellent shading and color, they also have a lot of details such as spots, folds, drops, that just make them feel alive. Same goes with the expressions of all of them. They just seem right and draw you right into the action which is enhanced by the action-packed poses... So, in other words: I think it's really amazing. ;) I have to say tho, you're right in that it's not immeadiately appearent that there is a storm coming.

I hold my ground,
and don't make a sound.
I'm silence and stealth,
a wolf and proud.
I run with the wind,
and howl at the moon.
I sing with the stars,
a slow haunting tune.

They say the eyes of a wolf transfix you.

It's true.

la realidad varia , segun los ojos que lo vean
hay quien no quiere aceptarla y por eso sus ojos cierra
se ciega lo que aparentemente es real porque...
se niega aceptar que esa es la autentica verdad
