Voodoo Wild Dog

One of my convention commissions from a couple of years back, of Rein, a horned African wild dog (cape hunting dog) wearing Bermuda shorts for a friend of D. Walker. Her character, a gearwyrm dragon, is coiled up at the top of the scene there.
This guy is engaging in some good ol’ fashioned voodoo, complete with special effects, which I find voodoo in real life to be sadly lacking.
It seems innocuous enough - levitating a staff! Good innocent fun. But something tells me that later that night, those two are going to be hiding, stifling laughter in the bushes while a pack of hyenas scrambles around helter-skelter from a relentless, pummeling hover staff. I mean really, anyone with magical powers would have so many opportunities for practical jokes that it would be unavoidable - this is probably why magical powers never developed in reality. Any individuals possessing the trait had too much fun with it, were killed by their peers, and could not pass the trait along.
Or something along those lines… I forget the specifics from formal literature on the subject.
